The Lemonade Stand:
How To Make A Difference 101-A Guide For Students, Volunteers and Other Good-Hearted People
(Pre-Order)
"The Lemonade Stand is a guide for students, volunteers and other people looking to make a difference in the lives of the people in their community. It identifies the eight key ingredients for making a difference and includes the amazing stories of real people who stood up to life's lemons and made a difference. These ingredients will empower readers to discover their passion for helping, develop empathy, identify a mission, find opportunities, mobilize their network, create an action plan, draw upon their determination to succeed and encourage and be encouraged by others. This book is informational, yet the stories are heart warming. It is essential for students participating in service learning projects, people looking to volunteer for a non profit, the person hoping to start their own non profit, and for non profit managers looking to get more out of their volunteers."
What makes this book different is that one chapter was written by Brian Horn. This book is available on Amazon.com, or you can buy it here for the same price of only $12.95 plus S&H, AND Brian will autograph it! He agrees to personalize it, just put your instructions in the comments box when you order. Only 32 copies left available here so hurry!! A portion of the proceeds goes to Any Soldier Inc. Book will ship late July.

The Cumberland County Community Chorus will be giving a Veteran's Day Benefit Concert, the 'American Heroes' Concert, on Sunday, November 8th, 2009, at 3 p.m., and held in the auditorium of Stone Memorial High School located on Cook Road in Crossville, TN. The afternoon program will be a collection of patriotic melodies and American favorites. Others sharing the stage for this benefit concert will be a Brass Quintet from the Southern Stars Brass Orchestra; Ann Looney, piano accompanist for the chorus and a soloist; Marty Gibson, chorus director, musician and vocalist.

The Young Marines of Cumberland County will be there to help at the door and hand out concert programs. They will also post and retire the colors along with leading everyone in the 'Pledge of Allegiance.'

A freewill donation will be asked the day of the concert with proceeds going to the Cumberland County Veterans Relief Fund helping local veterans in need of assistance and also to Any Soldier Inc., a non-profit charitable organization helping our active military proudly serving in harm's way.

We invite you to an afternoon of musical entertainment celebrating our freedom and thanking those who fought to preserve it and continue to do so today. Please lend your support to these two very worthwhile organizations.

You can direct any comments or questions to Jan Schimmel at 931-456-1051 or Helen Callis at 931-707-8177 or email the Chorus at cccchorus@frontier.com.

Friends For Life
By Patti Donahue & Jennifer MackInday

Friends for Life is a story of two women who were strangers brought together through the yearlong deployment of the infamous Deuce Four Stryker Brigade to Mosul, Iraq. Patti, the mother of Army medic Jon, and Jennifer, sister of infantry soldier James, forged a dear friendship as their soldiers fought to stay alive in one of the most dangerous cities in Iraq. After meeting online, Patti and Jennifer joined forces at home to support their soldiers and comfort each other while their boys battled in the fierce fight to secure Mosul. Over a year later, Patti and Jennifer finally met in person and truly became friends for life. This book is full of emotional stories from the battlefront and the home front and also includes many resources for military families.
